To go with our mini-wedding we had a mini-honeymoon at the Shangri La hotel!  Was AWESOME to be pampered, raid the minibar, and watch pay-per-view.  Oh, wait, even one of the very nicest hotels in the Philippines we’re still in the Philippines so no pay-per-view.  That’s just too new-fangled for here.  But the pool was amazing and the food was great!  The aircon was FREEZING.

Of course we had Mom and the kids come over on the second day to enjoy the pool.  Scope pix below and when Youtube gets it’s shit together I’ll post the vids below the pix!

That’s right folks, I’m a married man as of 8/28/09! The wedding was not a massive event by any means, heh. We’re planning a proper ceremony in April but we both wanted one that was outdoors and the weather here in the Philippines doesn’t really allow for any certainty of sunny weather during the “rainy season”. Still my Mom was able to attend and Danny and Shey were there as our official witnesses. This went down at the Makati City Hall in a courtroom. Be sure to notice the pictures of the rice cooker in the courtroom. Classic! Also watch the vids. Pretty damn funny. I was the only one able to keep from busting out laughing. Also Danny did a hell of a job on crowd control telling off some inconsiderate assholes who walked in and started yammering at one another about where some boxes in the back needed to be moved to!

I had no idea a birthday party for a 7 year old could be so darn exhausting! This past Sunday, at the McDonald’s in Greenhills Mall Karen and I held a birthday for our youngest daughter Nicole who turned seven. Unlike the birthday parties I’m used to in the USA where parents just dropped their kids off, all the parents stayed and enjoyed the party. It was like a family reunion in that we wound up having 80 people attend! My mom, Shey, Danny, Nick, Anna, and Kat Kat (Anna’s daughter) also attended. Yes, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago. I’m posting late as I’ve been busy as fook shutting down my company (MadisonAvenue.com) and starting a new job with GreenNebula. Anyway, I had one hell of a great party for my birthday so scope out the pix and soon as youtube finishes uploading there will also be a vid clip.

I live here.  I’m going to live here for quite a while.  But sometimes the ass-backwards-ness of this country just drives me nuts.  Folks here just don’t get the concept of preventative maintenance.  Last weekend I was on a road trip and stopped at a gas station / truck stop to take a leak.  What I saw is the epitome of how stupid things can be here.

Fix it? Why? Thee's still 1 working!

The bathroom (or CR) as they’re called here originally started off with 4 Urinals.  They never could get the seal to work on the plumbing for the first one (very common problem here).  Solution?  Take it out.  Then the next two get clogged because they’re too cheap to buy the little plastic mat things to keep cigarette butts out.  Solution? Put CARDBOARD in them with “out of order” written on it.  And that of course leaves us with just one working urinal.

Typical mentality here: why do we need to fix anything?  We still have one working!  GRRRRR!  Um, because when that last one dies NO one will be able to use anything for the 2 months it takes to get anything fixed here!  Idiots!

Ok, I’m done ranting.  This post will go up on my birthday so hopefully when you read this I’ll have a good buzz on
